Everyone over in Japan has been patiently waiting for Kojima’s Zone of Enders HD. Without much to go on, let alone a release date, fans of the series were getting anxious. Their prayers were answered, however, as a new website was opened for the title that not only included quite a few choice screenshots of the game, but a release date.
Zone of Enders HD will be available on the PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 25th as a physical game, and as a downloadable title (The PSN version will release on October 25th, but the XBLA version is still TBA). This HD collection will not only include Zone of Enders HD, but its sequel, Anubis. The standard version of the game will be priced at ¥3,980, while the downloadable version will be priced a little cheaper at ¥3,480.
Lets get to the long-awaited screenshots. While sure, there isn’t much new to see, you can definitely see the improvement in the quality of the shots. There is one screenshot from Zone of Enders, and 4 from Anubis. It’s not much, but it does give us a bit of a look into what we can expect from this HD collection.
There is also a collectors edition in the works that will be released on both the PS3 and the Xbox 360. It will be called the Premium Package, and will include a special box, the Zone of the Enders reBOOT Edition remix CD, and two booklets, the Chronicle Book which recreates booklets from the 2001 and 2003 releases, and the ReBOOT Book, which features dialogues between Hideo Kojima and art director Yoji Shinkawa and a look at the remake’s development. There will be another edition called the Konami Style version, which will be available only from Konami’s e-shop. It will include a few additional bonuses when compared to the Premium Package. Then you know, for all you cheap guys out there, you can always purchase the standard edition. Now, enough about Zone of Enders HD. Let’s move on to the sequel that was recently announced.
At an event to promote the upcoming Zone of Enders HD collection, Hideo Kojima dropped the bomb that they were developing a sequel to Zone of Enders titled “The Enders Project”. If you need a second to catch your breath after that, I understand. Right now, not much is known about the project, other than that it exists. Producer Ryosuke Toriyama is testing just what the FOX engine is capable of for the project, and they are producing real-time objects that can be made into in-game things. It’s all very interesting, if you ask me. Hopefully the team can push the FOX engine to its limits, and produce something awesome. Not that I think we expect anything less from Kojima.
