Have you ever thought to yourself, “Hey, a system that allows developers and publishers to promote their game’s release on Steam, while giving community members the opportunity to provide input on games that are made available on the service would be awesome!” Of course you have, because you are clearly a sharp cookie.
Well, your wish has come true, my friend! The great and illustrious Valve (Half-Life, DOTA 2, Counter Strike) has announced the Steam Greenlight service is now live. Here is what the company had to say about it:
Announced earlier this summer, Steam Greenlight allows developers and publishers to post information and media about their game in an effort to convince the Community that the game should be released on Steam. Greenlight piggybacks on Steam Workshop’s flexible system that organizes content and lets customers rate and leave feedback.
As well as serving as a clearing house for game submissions, Greenlight provides an incredible level of added exposure for new games and an opportunity to connect directly with potential customers and fans.
As if Valve’s Steam service wasn’t amazing enough, they had to go and make it even more community friendly. March onward, fellow Steam community members! There are now hundreds of games to Greenlight!
