Well, after this happened, Capcom caught wind of what was going on with their Resident Evil 6 games and found out that there are copies that have been stolen. Not just one, but several.
Not only that, but they are being sold for prices that are beyond what anyone would and should be willing to pay. As stated in the linked article above, that specific one was going for the cost of $600 USD (except in whatever the exchange in euros would be) which is ten times the amount that one would usually pay at retail price. I don’t know about you all, but I would not be willing at all to pay that amount for any game anywhere at anytime (believe me…I’ve been tempted by old games on Amazon, but it’s still a no).
Of course, Capcom did have something to say on the matter as would any company that would suffer from product theft:
Capcom is currently undertaking a thorough investigation into reports that Resident Evil 6 is being sold ahead of its official October 2 release date. At this time, all we can add is that it would appear this unfortunate incident is limited to a small quantity of stolen copies of the German USK PlayStation 3 version of the game.
As of now, it just seems like it’s a European deal as the copies stolen seem to be popping up around Europe only. It does baffle me that people would bid on these items at such ludicrous prices when Resident Evil 6 is not that far from release. You really can’t wait less than a month’s time, people?
