Even though the game is called Theives in Time, it seems like Sony is giving us time; Giving us time that we have to wait until Sly Cooper: Theives in Time actually hits shelves. They have announced that instead of releasing the game during the holiday season, they are going to release it in February 2013. Here was the reasoning they gave.
“With a robust and diverse catalog of first and third party content launching this holiday season– including Wonderbook: Book of Spells, PlayStation All Stars: Battle Royale, Little Big Planet Karting, Assassins Creed III, Assassin’s Creed III Liberation, Madden 13 and Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified – we have decided to release Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time in February 2013 to ensure gamers continue to have a variety of content to enjoy after the holidays and into the New Year,”
Personally, I don’t get it. I mean, sure, there are a lot of games coming out during the holiday season, but releasing the game in February is just going to get them caught up with what I am starting to call “The February Fap Frenzy”. Crysis 3, MGR Revengeance, Dead Space 3 and a few more games are already coming out in February, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it hurt their sales a bit. It’s not that Sly Cooper isn’t a fantastic game that can totally compete with these titles, but come on, Dead Space and Crysis beat it out. Not to mention the long awaited Metal Gear Rising.
I hope Sony is making the right decision with this delay.
