If a report by Variety is to be believed, that is the case. According to their source, this new title will feature the Caped Crusader’s first meeting with arch-nemesis The Joker. Among the details of the report is the following little gem,

New, highly stylized title is being developed as a prequel that revolves around Batman’s first meeting with the Joker. It’s based on the Silver Age of DC’s comicbooks from the 1950s when the Caped Crusader teamed with other heroes like Superman and founded the Justice League of America.

Now, thats exciting for any number of reasons. In the past, DC has made nothing but bad decisions in expanding their universe beyond traditional comic books, finding success with Batman and Batman alone. Now we have other heroes popping up in Lego Batman 2, and from the sound of this, DC and parent company Warner Bros just might be making the good choice of using Batman’s success and mass appeal to launch other heroes into mainstream entertainment. Keep in mind, the Silver Age is when a certain little-known super-team known as The Justice League formed, featuring the original lineup of Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, and, who could forget, The Martian Manhunter.
