Before I go into anything, I must ask a simple question. Why do developers decide to make games that they know are going to be annoying? What is the point in developing a game that takes no skill, has no challenges, and will make the gamer break down laughing at just how horribly designed it is? I mean, I get it with games like Amy and Duke Nukem. At least they gave it a fair effort (Yes, that was at you Duke), but other games it is just sad. Ram Racing is one of these titles.
Every single thing about Ram Racing screams “MONEY MONEY MONEY”. You can tell that the game was made to be a “Ram” brand game, and the only reason they even invested any money in the title was to put their name on something. As I played this game, I constantly asked myself when was it was going to be over; when am I going to get a chance to end this madness, and return the sanity I have since lost after playing this game. It was like I was thrown into one of those horrible movie games such as Thor or one of the Harry Potter titles. I went into this title expecting a poorly developed racing title, and now that everything is said and done, I was completely wrong.
Now, you may be thinking “But Ryan, from what you have said the game is exactly what you expected; It is a poorly developed racing title. How were you wrong?” I understand this, but I think the developers had something else in mind when they were making this game. They knew that the game was going to be bad, so they decided to make the game as funny as they possibly could. I would say they were pretty successful at this. I literally found myself cracking up more while playing this game than previous games I have played. Whether it was running into walls and being instantly turned, listening to all the other cars hitting the walls, winning races in reverse, or not being able to turn, I always found myself laughing. Even though it was more of a “Wow, this is so pathetic it is funny” laugh, I guess it is kind of a plus, right? Is it sad that the only good parts of this game were the humor and that you can’t lose (as long as you can press and hold the 2 button, and aren’t visually impaired)?
Okay, but in all seriousness; Ram Racing is a terrible game. It is definitely the worst title I have played (and I have played those stupid movie titles), and you should not purchase it. Everything that you expect from a racing game is absent, and it just looks rushed and not well put together. You cannot leave the boundaries of the track, driving in the grass makes you go faster in some cases, your car is faster than others, and you cannot physically make half the turns on the tracks. Add the fact that the graphics are horrible, and the fact that the game only has 5 or so tracks, and you might as well be eating a steaming poop sandwich. I mean, I get that didn’t have much promise and was just a money grabber, but seriously?
Final Thoughts
This game is horrible (at least for hardcore gamers like myself). Hell, if you want a better experience you may as well go pick up Burnout 2 for the Gamecube for $5. Now that was a good game. Please save your sanity, and never come within 50 ft of the title. If you happen to have the misfortune of booting it up on your Wii, here are some tips to save your life.
- Immediately pick up your Wii console, and throw it out the window
- Get some gasoline, pour it over your Wii console, and throw a lit match on it (this may cause your house to catch fire, so use caution)
- Run, and don’t ever stop
I think you get the idea.
