Developer Rising Star Games is releasing a remaster of an as of previously Japan-only arcade “shmup” game. Set during a World War-esque conflict in an alternate universe, players take on the role of a helicopter pilot in an area divided by the Empire and the Union.
Building off the original arcade version, Under Defeat HD builds off the classic arcade version with new upgrades and modes. New features include:
- Realistic destruction
- Improved textures, artwork, and shadowing
- Dual stick compatibility
Also included are two modes, Classic Arcade Mode, and a new mode making use of 16:9 aspect ratio screens called New Order Mode, taking full advantage of HD televisions. Also included are training modes for both modes, allowing practice in individual levels.
In addition to the disc in the retail version, buyers will also get:
- Digital art book
- All current DLC and Patches
- Soundtrack CD from the New Order mode
- Letter from CEO and Executive Producer Hiroyuki Maruyama
Under Defeat HD will be available this fall on PlayStation Network and PlayStation 3 for $39.99.
