This is for all the people who still wish for games to be recognized as an art form. It seems like Katamari Damacy is receiving an exhibit at New York’s own Museum of Modern Art.

Namco Bandai announced this today, saying that Katamari Damacy would be displayed at the museum from July 29 to November 5 as part of the “Century of the Child: Growing By Design” exhibit.

Carlson Choi, VP of Marketing at Namco Bandai Games had this to say:

The inclusion of Katamari Damacy in this ground breaking exhibit is a testament to the creative designs embodied in Namco Bandai’s games and shows the importance of video games in peoples’ lives in addition to being a validation of video games as a modern form of interactive art.
Katamari Damacy, for those who don’t know, is a PS2 title released in 2004 that focused on puzzle gameplay. You played as a prince who’s father accidentally destroyed the cosmos and you have to use a ball called “Katamari” to gather up anything in your path to create mass for stars and planets. The game was heavily applauded for it’s unique style.
