In keeping with tonight’s trend of making announcements that probably should have happened on stage during E3, Nintendo has finally released a few more details about a title that was initially announced at E3 2011: the WiiU and 3DS versions of Super Smash Bros.

Nintendo has announced the Namco Bandai will be developing the franchises next release alongside Sora, the team behind Kid Icurus.

Series creator Masahiro Sakurai will still be heading up the project. Tetsuya Akatsuka will also be involved alongside Director Yoshito Higuchi (Tales of Vesperia) and Producer Kenya Kobayashi.

There were no details for a release date announced.
