
Happy 25th birthday, Metal Gear Solid. I hope you plan to settle down soon, start a nice family. Your ambition is getting ridiculous. But I welcome it, oh so well.
Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is a beacon of that ambition. Rendered with Hideo Kojima’s now not-so-secret Fox Engine, the newly released gameplay is some of the best looking hunk of game I’ve ever seen. The detail, the water effects (that pouring rain, oh lord), the details in facial expression. There certainly is no disappointing with this well kept secret. While mostly cutscenes, the video even shows a bit of gameplay that looks remarkably as good as the pre-rendered sequences.
In detail news, Playstation Blog noted that the Ground Zeroes demo was run on a PC with similar power a PS3. In addition, Kojima commented:
“We’re not going to say that it’s Metal Gear Solid 5. But it is a prologue.”
