Nintendo has announced the content you’ll find in Kirby’s 20th Anniversary Collection for the Wii.

On top of six retro Kirby games, the collection will also include a challenge mode, an interactive time-line, a soundtrack (for those of us who enjoy listening to midi files on CD) and a full-color book recounting the history of the franchise.

While this is a jam-packed collection, there are a few notably missing titles including two of my favorites: Kirby’s Pinball for the GameBoy and Kirby’s Dream Course for the SNES. These stand out as being the only two Kirby games that offer any real degree of challenge and lots of replay-ability.

The titles included in the collection are:

  • Kirby’s Dream Land and Dream Land 2 from the GameBoy
  • Kirby’s Dream Land 3 and Kirby Super Star from the Super Nintendo
  • Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards from the Nintendo 64

The game will make a great swan-song for the basically-already-dead system, but I feel as though this is a title that would move a few 3DS systems. I’m a pretty big Nintendo fanboy, but chances are you won’t catch me dusting off my Wii for this game. I guess I’ll just have to play it on my WiiU.

The current release date is set for September 16 in North America and no price has been announced at this time.
