Even though I just heard about it today, it looks like Fez has been in development for quite a while. Its inception came all the way back in 2007, when Polytron Corporation started working on the project. Since then, not much has happened. We have seen trailers, seen gameplay, tested versions at events such as Pax, but we still have not seen Fez come to be. This is about to change, seeing as Fez has officially been submitted to Microsoft, and is awaiting certification. In the end, we should expect to see this title in Q1 of 2012.

Now, why should you care about this? If you would have asked me before today, I would have asked the same thing. After watching a couple of videos, this game actually looks really cool. It looks like a more basic game with aspects from Super Paper Mario, or at least the dimension shifting parts of it. Lets go a little bit into what this game will having you do.

Now, as I said before, the game incorporates elements that are similar to those found in Super Paper Mario. It’s a platforming title that hinges itself on changing from 2D to 3D (in the scheme of things), and exploring the world in a new light. You can switch it so you are looking at your character from every direction, and you must use this to solve puzzles, and collect items to open doors. The concept seems pretty simple, but the videos make the game look well executed, and I certainly hope I can try out this title for myself.

So, are you interested yet? I have been playing little XBLA/PSN titles lately, and truthfully they are some of the best ones. I have recently become tangled in the workings of Rochard, Limbo and various other titles, and I think this one has potential to knock them out of the water. There is just something about the title that looks cool, and I cannot wait to get my hands on it.

Hopefully we will see it in March, or early April.
