Or, as the so-called title suggests, a “rebirth.” Square Enix announced that they would be re-releasing the eponymous Final Fantasy XIV as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.
Unlike Final Fantasy XI, which had numerous expansion add-ons, this one is not exactly an expansion. This edition of Final Fantasy XIV is completely redesigned from the ground up with a new world and a new storyline centering on the theme of rebirth.
The original Final Fantasy XIV was released to unanimous negative reception–very surprising for a Final Fantasy game. Many of the complaints centered on final product being rushed out containing numerous bugs, glitches, and a seemingly broken interface. Square Enix also offered up apologies to customers for the game’s performance.
Hopefully, this new edition will prove to be a success and qualm some fears based on the original game’s performance.
