Behold, survival horror purist, Capcom might be doing right by us this time around. In an interview with Gamespot, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi mentioned the possibility of a Resident Evil 2 remake if Capcom feels there is enough fan support backing the project.
“If the fans really clamor for it; if there’s a groundswell of support for remaking that game, then I think that’s something Capcom would take under consideration,” Haribayashi said to Gamespot.
Just to lay all the cards on the table, that way there’s no rumor-mongering or things like that, no, we are not working on a Resident Evil 2 remake as of now.
Resident Evil 2 made the scene in 1998 on the Playstation and is held by many Resident Evil fans world over as the paramount of the series. And with the popularity of the Leon S. Kennedy and his return in Resident Evil 6, a Resident Evil 2 remake would be a good move by Capcom. There is still enough room to worry, i mean, we’re dealing with Capcom here. They don’t have quite the best track record with the fan base.. need I remind you of Megaman Legends 3? An RE2 remake sounds fantastic, but if they decide to go forward with the project, it would be nice to see them actually follow through (and maybe hold off from blaming their fanbase). If you want to see a remake come to fruition, let your voice be heard!
